Foxconn is a company situated in China but has a close working partnership with Apple Inc. Apple Inc. is known all over the world for designing and delivering masterpieces in the communication market. Foxconn has also made contracts with various mobile phone companies.
Analysis of the current HR programs, policies, and procedures at Foxconn
Employee training to promote employee development is a fundamental feature of the company. Employees are offered knowledge and information that sharpen their skills that are handy when performing their daily duties. Training forms a fundamental foundation of the company’s workforce who is designed to deliver and meet the ever diverse needs of the company (Foxconn Technology Group, 2019). The company is therefore advantaged to have talented workers who are talented, committed and engaged.
According to Foxconn Technology Group (2019), their competitive compensation uses a specified structure whose components include the total compensation approach, pay for performance and yearly performance and compensation reviews. However, according to Albergotti (2017), the company has violated its labor rights by overworking employees, offering low wages, and exposing them to unfavorable working conditions. Albergotti (2017) argues that the HR department has withheld the workers' bonus payments, does not offer safety training and prefers hiring temporary workers.
The HR department at Foxconn also suppresses any good relationship between the management and the union. This kind of management denies the employees a voice and thus do not have an opportunity to participate in the planning and operation decisions (Albergotti, 2017). The company has also gone through periods where it carried out mass layoffs impacting on the lives of employees.
Changes that require improvement
Human resource management at Foxconn should design programs that provide a favorable and conducive environment for workers to work. The HRM in these regions need to value their workers and their contribution to the company by offering them fair compensation, pay for overtime and generally improve their working conditions.
