There are many differences that different cities face based on many social, economical,
and environmental factors. During my research about Madison, Wisconsin, and New Orleans,
Louisiana it showed that Madison is dominated by whites, and Orleans is dominated by Blacks.
New Orleans has worse health outcomes, less likely to visit a doctor for their annual check-up,
and have a lower high school graduation rate. New Orleans residences also have limited access
to healthy food. All these living conditions are known to effects one’s health outcome and the
environment. In Madison, they have a lower rate of hypertension among their residences, more
likely to do their annual check-up exam, they have a higher high school graduation rate and
more access to healthier food. I believe since residences of Madison city are white privileged
individuals that were able to get an education, it gives them a head start in life and offering great
opportunities.
