Help with the Unit 5 Assignment: Stanford Prison Experiment

The Unit 5 Assignment is a power point presentation. PPTs are less formal and provide more flexibility for students to convey their information and responses. For the PPT, in general, I am expecting: 1. Title Slide 2. Introduction slide (introduce to the reader the main points of the presentation that will be covered). 3. Body (address the requirements of the assignment in the appropriate # of slides). 4. Conclusion slide (summarize to the reader the main points of the presentation that were covered). 5. Reference slide Use in-text citations where appropriate on the slides or in the speaker notes.

The basic format is: Blah blah blah (Last name, year).

If the author is not known, use an abbreviated title.

Blah blah blah (“Abbreviated title,” year).

Use bullets and brief sentences to convey the information on the slides. Don't write long narratives. Use as many slides as necessary to convey the information. Use pictures and colors sparingly. The focus is on the information (content). Some additional thoughts about some of the content for this assignment: 1. Remember that the purpose of the experiment should be considered within the 4 purposes as discussed in unit 1 (chapter 1): explore, describe, explain and/or evaluate. 2. What were the ethical issues? Refer to chapter 2 regarding ethics in research. 3. Generalizability: This concepts refers to the findings and WHETHER OR NOT they can be generalize beyond the scope of this specific research. In order words, if we try to replicate this experiment using different people or different places or different times or different cultures, would we get the same results? Can the results be generalized to "other" situations that were not covered in this experiment? For example, if the individuals were all females, would we get the same results?

4. Validity refers to accuracy. How do we know we are measuring what we intend to measure?

5. Reliability refers to consistency. Would we get the same results through repeated trials?

Have fun with this assignment. Think in terms of how it relates back to many research components that we have discussed in units 1 - 5. -Jp.
