Statistics table 8
HELP! How do I approach this case????
As you found out with the case for chapter 3, the chapter cases can be more complex than the relatively simple examples in the homework. But they are important since they focus on interpretation as well as just number crunching.
Actually, the case for chapter 8 isn’t difficult. It is just a BUNCH of confidence intervals for both nominal data and ratio data. A few (hopefully) helpful hints:
1) Read the chapter 8 case on pages 263 and 264.
2) Take a look at the discussion questions on page 264. Ask yourself for each question: am I using nominal data (yes/no type) or ratio data (numeric)?
3) Calculate confidence intervals for the four questions in discussion item #1.
4) Step back and interpret the intervals you’ve found. Are there any aspects of customer satisfaction that are significantly better or significantly worse than others? HINT: consider whether the intervals overlap (meaning no significant difference) or not (meaning there IS a significant difference). If you were the manager of The Container Store, what would YOU do with the results ?
5) Calculate confidence intervals for the six questions in discussion item #2. Think carefully: should you be using z points or t points? Make sure you understand the difference.
6) It’s time to interpret the intervals. Are there any aspects of employee satisfaction that are significantly better or significantly worse than others? If you were the manager of The Container Store, what would YOU do with the results ?
Hope this helps! Scream if you need anything.
