Hello Class,

Being we will be working with people who have trauma, and we will be listening to their stories, we ourselves can be affected through "secondary traumatization". Secondary trauma can be incurred when an individual is exposed to people who have been traumatized themselves, disturbing descriptions of traumatic events by a survivor, or others inflicting cruelty on one another. Symptoms of secondary trauma are similar to those of PTSD.

I invite you to read this article, and provide which one of these resonates with you the most, and how will it help you when working with, for example those who have experiences complex trauma as a child, or a victim of domestic violence.
