Group Leadership Proposal

Group Leader: Ms.X

Purpose of the Group

Burnout decreases productivity and takes away your energy. It’s a key concern in the field of counseling. The results of burnout can lead you to feeling helpless, hopeless and resentful. As counselors we have to effectively take care of ourselves in order to adequately help our clients.

The purpose of this group is to identify, and address the issue of burn-out with several social workers with a high case load. Additionally, suggest self-care exercise to explore a balance in your life. These social workers have worked between 6 months up to at least two years. The social workers manage a caseload of 35 to 60 veterans per social worker. Veterans on their caseloads were homeless, but now housed. In addition to their homelessness, they have difficulty with maintaining sobriety, psychological concerns, mental and physical issues, just to name a few. The social worker role is to help veterans to maintain housing and work towards stabilization.
