GROUP DIFFERENCES
Group Differences Report
An independent-samples t test was performed to compare whether there was a difference in
attitudes towards God in the Religious and Spiritual Struggles – Divine scale scores and Beliefs
about God. The initial screening of the data indicated that N = 637 participants. There was N= 98
missing data for the variable RSS-Divine Struggles. Significant difference was not noted in the
scores for I believe there is a God (M=1.60, SD=0.96) and I used to believe there was a God but
do not anymore (M=1.17, SD=0.67) conditions; t (450) =4.07, p=0.00. There was not a
significant difference in the scores for Belief of God M = 1.91, SD = 1.15) and Religious and
Spiritual Struggles – Divine (M = 1.58, SD = 0.96). These results suggest that attitudes towards
God are affected by beliefs about God. Specifically, it can me assumed that if a person has a
negative attitude towards God their beliefs will be negatively view about God, while if they have
a positive attitude towards God their beliefs will be positively view about God.
