Should children under the age of 10 own cell phones?

I) Introduction

A) Some researches show that as of the year 2019, close to fifty percent of children under the age of ten in the United States of America have their phones. Despite the alarming rate, what counts in the end are the reasons that call for the ownership of phones. Therefore, parents and guardians are mandated to critically analyze the positive and negative effects that may arise when their children own cells phones gadgets which can be productive and harmful at the same time. Whichever impact outweighs the other will be a solid determinant of whether the latter should own cell phones.

B) Parents, guardians, and society as a whole should embrace the use of cell phones for kids who are below the age of ten by providing the necessary guidance and instruction on how they can use these gadgets to enhance their knowledge, interactive skills, educational and individual growth.

C) For kids below the age of ten, cell phones can make them develop a sense of connectedness, learn and become responsible individuals.

II) Body

1. Cell phones enhance the ability of kids to connect with their fellow kids from different backgrounds (Soloway & Norris, 2011).

a) Social media platforms like Facebook and apps such as zoom make it possible for children to make and maintain new friends from different parts of the globe

b) Through staying connected to the internet, children can develop better interactive skills with their peers and parents because of lessons they acquire from educative animations and cartoons

c) Cell phones can keep children actively engaged and, in the process, prevent them from engaging in unpleasant acts because of becoming idle.

2. The use of cell phones can advance children’s knowledge, help them learn, discover and create their own content (Odgers, 2018).

a) Use of cell phones can help children to develop positive attitude towards education and make the then eager to learn

b) Educational apps and Google services found in cell phones can help kids expound on the knowledge gained in class

c) Through the use of cells phones children can enhance their literacy skills by engaging in online tutorials

3. Children can develop a sense of maturity through phones (Soloway & Norris, 2011).

a) Children can limit their expenses of airtime and bundles and in the process learn responsibility

b) Notepad and diary can help children manage their schedules and struggle to meet them

c) Cell phones can help children develop a sense of maturity which contributes to responsible acts

III) Conclusion

A) The ability to stay connected with others, learn and become responsible kids can be made possible with proper utilization of phones.

B) Necessary precautions and measures should be implemented to help avoid the negative effects of cell phone usage for kids below the age of ten.

C) To prevent a lost generation, an eye should be kept on the children and their usage of cell phones.
