Peer Review of the Work by Greg Wilson
Analyzing the writing by Greg Wilson, he has made a clear analysis of the chosen chapters of The Lord of the Rings and Philosophy: One Book to Rule Them All where he has been able to compare the contents and meanings of those chapters to a possible event that could happen in real life where those ideals and morals expressed in The Lord of the Rings might be applicable. With morality being expressed all through the book, the comparison of the fictional world presented and the real world is made significant as they both share similar attributes. The introduction offered gives a very clear and conscience road map to what the writer is scripting about in the paper.
Accordingly, the author effectively moves to form a topic description perspective and ventures into an argument based study where he compares the similarities and differences between the world presented in The Lord of the Rings to the real world we are living in. Majorly, the author uses several terms throughout the study to enhance a fast understanding of the chapters. For instance, he uses the word morality, heroism, friendship, courage, the ring, happiness, hatred, money, and sense. The terms bear their natural basic meanings as used in the book where by closely analyzing all of them, they are closely related to one another as expressed in The Lord of the Rings.
In reviewing the work, the organization of the analysis is bravely conducted because there is a clear integration of the other authors works to his own studies of the chosen chapters. Providing the resemblance of the ring as used in the fictional world to the money in our own contemporary lives proves a well-integrated analysis of the book. The two are symbolically significant as they are the root causes of all the evils actions being committed in both worlds. Thus, the arguments and examples offered are relative and realistic as they all drive their perspectives towards the main ideas of the book which comprise of heroism, unity, courage, and happiness among others. Therefore, we can state that the present generation of children being taught the same morals are not going to turn up as a better generation since the vices are vast hence call for the teaching of different moral values.
