Gordon Rule Paper 1: "Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World"

1. Watch the following 2017 Sundance Film Festival documentary in its entirety:  "Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World."Links to an external site.

2. Write an  Essay about your impressions of the film  that includes:  a. Paragraph 1: Your purpose and a thesis (See below for  TOPIC). b. Paragraphs 2, 3, and 4: Supporting paragraphs about each of the points introduced in your thesis. c. Paragraph 5:  A closing paragraph restating your thesis in different words.

 

· TOPIC: Discuss the connection between indigenous music and blues, jazz, rock, heavy metal and even rap, according to the film. Include concrete examples from the film of musicians who played a role as influencers including  Jesse Ed Harris and two other indigenous musicians of your choice from the film and how they contributed to these genres of music. Discuss something you found surprising or inspiring from the film.

· Your paper should be three (3) full pages in length (approximately 280 words per page), double-spaced, written in 12 pt font, and must conform to  MLALinks to an external site. guidelines. Indent your paragraphs. Do not use extra spaces between paragraphs.

· Remember to use your own words--paraphrase all work and cite all sources. Your work will run through  Turn-It-In to check for plagiarism.

· Type your paper into a Microsoft Word document, save the file and then upload the file.
