The genogram assignment will be graded for a potential total of 20 points, worth 20% of your final grade in the course, using these guidelines:

1-4pts Organization of narrative and overall clarity of writing, including spelling and grammar

0-1 pts Paper follows APA formatting guidelines in terms of structure and citations

1-2 pts An informative introduction clearly defining your focus (maternal and/or paternal sides, generational levels, etc.) Be sure to note the key terms, themes, or concepts that guide your essay. A focused and creative introduction can be helpful to set the tone and guide the reader. Important: Giving your genogram essay a meaningful title is an important aspect of the preparation.

1-5 pts Inclusion of a legible genogram drawing that helps to clearly illustrate the family narrative in your essay. Either a hand drawn diagram or a software-generated genogram will be acceptable. This should reflect family structure and relationships discussed in your essay.

1-8 pts Essay content and links to family psychology: A well-developed and thoughtfully prepared narrative essay. Please incorporate descriptions, examples, analysis and reflections, and be sure to include a summary paragraph. The integration of a few selected family concepts will be expected to enhance the overall narrative.
