General Instruction

You are a journalist who work for a credible media organization. You are going to create a media content by uploading an opinionated article on a topic of a specific social issue. You are also responsible for writing this article.

Stage 1:

· Pick a specific “social issue” topic and pick a side

Climate change; immigration (“abolish ICE” vs. “pro-ICE;” “pro-Sanctuary Cities” vs. “against-Sanctuary cities;” “pro-DACA” vs. “end DACA”); civil rights; police reform (“defund the police” vs. “support the police”); racial discrimination; gender inequality; foreign policy; health care; education reform; military spending; D.C. statehood, etc.

· Write an opinionated article by framing your arguments to reflect the persuadees’ moral foundations

Abolish ICE – frame your argument to reflect authority, loyalty, and/or purity

Pro-ICE – frame your argument to reflect care and/or fairness

Stage 2:

· Identify a credible media organization

· Check its website and see how media reports/commentaries are presented, including:

1. Layout

2. Font

3. Word Size

4. Visuals

5. Side advertisement

· Use these features as a template for your commentary

Specific Requirements

1. The news organization you pick must be a reliable one.

2. Use at least five keywords from the moral foundation dictionary to reflect a certain

moral foundation.

3. Identify someone who is considered to have a high level of credibility on this issue.

Create a byline.

4. Add one argument-related visual and one argument-irrelevant visual (peripheral

cue)

5. Word count: 400-700 words
