Conducting scholarly research takes time and thought. Be prepared to adopt new research strategies and search unfamiliar subject databases. This is especially true for those new to scholarly research in the social sciences. Sexuality education research may lead you to surprising places if you drift on the Internet.

5. List the exact name of the library DATABASES you searched. Highly relevant ones are linked on the Embedded Librarian page. All 200 or so are listed in Databases A-Z. Did you know you are searching 100 databases, the Miami Online Catalog, and OhioLINK when searching Articles & More which is Miami Libraries’ Discovery Service? This is the largest net for scholarly information you can cast in one search, getting one list of results.
DO NOT LIST: Miami Libraries or EBSCOhost. You did search academic databases like Academic Search Complete or Biography in Context, didn’t you?
6. How are you going to find credible sources from various media? Where does a researcher go for websites and interview resources? Hint: you might check out credible Youtube and TED talks.
7. How helpful was the search engine Google.com vs. Scholar.google.com? Why?
8. Write out the EXACT “search string” or “search query” you entered in that mysterious search box for Google/Google Scholar.
9. Name one research strategy or information source, new to you, that you tried while working on this project?
