Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a novel written by English author Mary Shelley which is very popular novel in the world. In this novel, a young scientist Victor Frankenstein creates a creature in a scientific experiment. Victor’s childhood passed with astonishing speed. At that time, his family finally stopped their trip, and they settled down in Geneva. His dad passed away when he was child. He fell in love with Elizabeth. Victor always had interest on science, and he started to study at Ingolstadt University. Before his leaving, his mom passes away. On her deathbed, his mom told him to marry Elizabeth, and she said it is good for their future. After that, he left home for university. However, he loves his mom, and he could not forget mother’s death. Victor met with a chemistry professor who name is Waldeman. At that time, Victor spends many hours in his laboratory, and he tries to create something deathless. He took bodies of death people in under grave. Finally, his job is done, but it looks like a monster, tall and ugly, and nobody loves him. He ran way outside of laboratory, because he scared of monster. When he came back laboratory, the monster was disappeared. The monster killed Victor’s young brother, also he killed Elizabeth on their wedding day. Finally, Victor could not struggle with his illness, and he died. At that moment of his death, the monster came and cried next to him, also he mourned for his creator. Finally, the monster killed himself, he throwed himself into the flames. This novel gives a dominant idea to take care and to have family fervor. On the other hand, the dominant idea gives motivation to protect family. In this novel, it gives alternate ideas that ugliness is problem to keep in touch each other, also needing family atmosphere, and people never take care you if you too ugly, even family do.
The first alternate idea in this novel gives that many people keep in touch if you look good facedly. We can see that looking good gets us to the next level. In the novel, the creature looks like a monster, and everybody around streets runs away from him, but he never hurt them. At that time, he feels very lonely and desperate. After that, he kills his creator’s family, because he never wants to see him, and he never shows his love to him. The monster sees a family house, and he watches them from outside house’s windows, also he feels that love in family, he wants to be with them too. This idea teaches is that being keep in touch with family is protectively and happily.
The second alternate idea is needing family love, atmosphere and fervor. The monster never feels that feelings ever, but he wants it. He feels very bad when he sees the family love of other people. His creator never loves him, and he always runs away from him from beginning of the novel to the ending. This thing is also big problem in our world, and if you are an ugly guy, you never have friends for sure. On the other hand, the family fervor gives actual love than others. We need it, because people want motivation, positive life, and living full. We can learn from this idea that to keep your family with love and to be with them closely.
The third alternate idea that teaches is that everybody cares about your physical beauty, and if you look weird, they never take care of you at all. In this novel, the monster smells bad and looks scary, and other people do not see him, also his creator too. However, inside of him has a beautiful heart. In the story, he wants to talk with him many times, but Victor always runs away. The other people also refuse him. Therefore, this last paragraph teaches reader that society never care a person who looks weird or smell bad, and they dismiss them from community.
In conclusion, the dominant view of the novel is to take care and to have family fervor. However, the novel has alternative views; physical beauty, family loveliness, and to be refused from community. In the novel, Victor leaves the monster that he created, and the monster curses his creator, because he is lonely. This idea teaches reader that people give their cares through the physical appearance, and they never give love even if they are in family, they refuse them easily. As a result, these ideas also big problems in this century too, the community judge people with their religion and physical appearance, and one day they should stop discriminate them hopefully.
