Hello class,

In current days we all know that technology is available to everyone. The fact that almost every person in the world possess a smartphone, tablet, iPad, computer and a smart TV, indicates that there has to be a massive production of the devices and also the matter to build the components. We also know that these days, devices become more powerful every 6 months to 2 years based in Moore’s Law, therefore the old devices required disposal or recycling more often than normal. These creates an E-waste problem since old devices become trash, more matter is required to build the components, the chemicals residue or production waste can affect directly human health, it also requires more energy to produce these devices, therefore more fuel is burnt.

It is said that a network effect occurs when the value of a good or service depends on the number of people who use it. In general, when there is a network effect, the greater the number of users, the greater value or utility that good or service will have. A good example is the internet. In the beginning, the Internet had very few users (mostly researchers and military) so its value was relatively small. As the number of users grew, more contacts were created, more sites to visit and more applications. In this way, the value of the internet grew until it became an essential tool today. Another example could ne Netflix, Facebook, Amazon and Online banks like USAA.

The E-Waste Crisis describes the definition on e-waste and what it entails. The use of certain toxic matter like Mercury, Lead, and Beryllium among others, is detrimental for human health while fabricating this products. The article mentions that we need to change out trends in regards of E-waste. Today out society keeps looking for the latest and greatest without thinking what is going to happen to their old devices or how does it affect the environment. It also highlights what happens to the devices once you dispose of them and how much percentage is reused or go somewhere else. E-Waste Crisis offer various solutions to this crisis which I find helpful and very effective if we change our minds and decide to dispose of the electronics the correct way.

Geographic Information Systems are essential to provide Geospatial Intelligence and Analytic Assessments for the mission. This tool is used on the daily basis and provides tons of information in order to generate important products to the decision makers. A negative impact in my opinion should be the high dependency on the system since a lot of databases are found on the net and in case of outages it will take some time to keep operating. There’s access to servers and other portable devices as a contingency plan but still we might have some delays on accessing information once more.

My founding father for this week is Abraham Baldwin from the House of Representatives for the state of Georgia. I chose him since he doesn’t appear on the dollar bills and he worked where I have my house back in the states. He served in the military as a chaplain. Due to the interaction with the different backgrounds of people by then his view opened up looking at the future of the colonies. That’s when he decide to jump into politics.
