The Assessment Task

The aim of this assignment is to test your knowledge and understanding of key concepts, ideas and models underpinning the procurement and purchasing functions of an organisation.

You have been employed as a consultant and asked to write a report to the Trustees of the BBC on the success or failure of procurement of the Digital Media Initiative (DMI).

Task 1: Introduction and overview on What is DMI?

The Digital Media Initiative (DMI) was a project launched by the BBC in 2008. It aimed to modernise the corporation's production and archiving methods by using connected digital production and media asset management systems. After a protracted development process lasting five years, the project was finally abandoned in May 2013.

Task 3: Procurement and purchasing models, concepts and ideas:

In writing this report you need to make reference to any relevant models, frameworks and illustrated concepts and ideas you can use to link DMI with related theories, models, framework etc..

Task 4: The scope of your diagnosis and the soundness and coherency of your discussions:

To diagnose and make sense of issues and problems which impacted the procurement of Digital Media Initiative (DMI) project. You need also to provide SWOT analysis for DMI.

Task 5: Conclusions and recommendations:

To provide key conclusions and also 4-6 key recommendations to the management of BBC and similar industries.

Task 6: Format and Referencing:

The report needs to be present in formal format with an introduction, main body, conclusions and recommendations plus Harvard referencing. You should use at least 8 journal articles from the last 5 years.

The grade will depend on the extent to which you meet these learning outcomes in the way relevant for this assessment. Please see the grading rubric on NILE for further details of the criteria against which you will be assessed.

The maximum word limit for this assignment is 2400 words for final submission excluding references.
