Fundamental Theories of Learning: Behaviorism, Cognitivism & Constructivism, and Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs |
Behaviorism: Involves where the trainer or teacher observes the learner and the measurable behavior then guiding to optimize the Learning. A way to demonstrate Behaviorism in the training program is through direct instruction such as lecture and learning the objectives, providing feedback and learner practice all in a classroom setting (environment). Cognitivism focuses on understanding a student's learning process and how the information learned is received, stored, and arranged. In order to make sure the learners’ grasped the information, I will have them to share, in their own words, the information that was taught. The class will form groups to discuss the information and create a powerpoint presentation to present to the class about what they’ve learned. Constructivism: It equalizes learning by creating meaning from skill where the mind interprets the input and interprets it in its way. At the beginning of class, the learners will identify their goals of what they plan to learn and achieve from training. At the end of the training, they will discuss if they met their goals or not. Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: These needs include safety, social, esteem, psychological, and self-actualization. Humans need to meet these needs to produce their full potential in their work; hence the trainers in the tesla company need to reach these needs for the trainers to work effectively.
Malcom Knowles' Adult Learning (or Andragogy) |
Malcolm, an American educator, suggested that andragogy is any system of adult education. For the Andragogy Theory, I would use the problem-based learning approach. Problems will be identified in the training program. Identifying problems will motivate the learners to fix the problem. |
Individual Characteristics of Learning: Motivation, Goals, Experience, Culture and Generational Differences |
Motivation In order to keep the learners motivated, a will break the class up into teams and have them answer questions on the board to get points. The team with the most points at the end wins an extended lunchbreak. Experience Each individual can discuss their experiences on the first day of training. This will allow the trainer to tweak the material to cater to the individual learners’ needs. Cultural differences This should be discussed in order to make everyone as comfortable as possible in the learning environment. Generational differences are common in any working environment, and it should not be a cause of the downfall of a company. The learners’ will help each other throughout training. For example, someone may not be computer or technology savvy. They will need more help than others.

David Kolb's Four Basic Learning Styles |
Kolb's experimental learning theory is represented in a four-stage cycle comprising of Concrete experience, Reflective observation, Abstract conceptualization, and Active experimentation (Burke, 2020). In teaching a new customer service driven software program, I will have the learners’ experiment and try out the program first. Then, reflect and observe the new software program to discuss features and such. Next, we can review the actual manual or instructions on how to use the software. Finally, get tips from users and experts.
Ned Hermann's Brain-based Approach |
Ned's theory comprises a four-quadrant model containing cognitive preferences and a questionnaire referred to as the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI). The HBDI instrument is based on the fact that one part of the brain dominates over the others. The theory can be implemented using participant guides and some co-curriculum activities such as playing cards or chess to determine the workers thinking ability, style, and preferences.
Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) Model |
The VAK model can implement the learner needs of the Tesla Inc organization, who mostly composed of employees working in the organization. In order to implement the VAK Model, training materials can consist of a combination of visual aids, music, question games and powerpoints with graphs, read aloud on each slide. The Model can help identify the best people suited to carry out the responsibilities or tasks assigned to them by the use of job aids and participant guides by their supervisors in the company's curriculum.
Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences |
Howard's Multiple intelligence theory can be implemented in the Tesla Inc organization to address employees' performance needs looking at their inputs' outcomes. The intelligence is applied in customer care services and mathematical assignments by developing a curriculum to ensure the effectiveness of the Tesla Inc Company's jobs. The application of this theory will require the use of e-learning and presentation forms of instructional design. |

Units/chapter/modules Customer relations, competition, and product differentiation. |
Module 8:
Professional Reflection: Every design is associated with pros and cons which the implementers and stakeholders should assess to determine their viability in a given project. ADDIE design that is used as an instructional design blueprint for Tesla Motors can be beneficial to the company but some limitations linked to it should be addressed to ensure that the organizational and performance needs are achieved. This design works by analyzing, identifying the possible causes of performance gap and commence general instructional goals, and identifies the needs of learners such as skills and knowledge. To ascertain the effectiveness of this design in Tesla Motors, this reflection examines its effectiveness, question concerns that I anticipate Tesla might have concerning the design, and possible areas that I believe to need my practice more and information and how to improve on those areas. The effectiveness of ADDIE design can be assessed in terms of the entire process from feasibility study to implementation and evaluation. Design being the first step in this instructional design blueprint is appropriate since it involves revisiting the lessons of the previous phases to make practical decisions (XING, 2018). I believe that every step in learning is crucial and should be practiced regardless of one’s current stage. For instance, this course involved strategy, delivery, and methods of implementing a given task which are all crucial in the final implementation and evaluation of the project. Tesla Motors’ needs The development stage of ADDIE method instructional blueprint design involves creation of the courses. After learning every theoretic concept, a learner is expected to practice by engaging in practical part of it (XING, 2018). Hence, this stage is effective in comprehending the lessons that one learns at a given stage since it determines the future of one’s learning and the effectiveness of projects that are developed. For instance, one of the performance needs of Tesla’s Motors is to ensure effective communication of financial viability and performance. Hence, if the team members are not engaged in the development stage of ADDIE design, then there is a high likelihood that this company will not achieve an efficient system that will cater for this need (XING, 2018). Other stages including implementation and evaluation are also crucial as they establish the basis of the system in the users’ site and determine whether it meets the user expectations and objectives or not. Tesla Motors being aggressive to improve its performance will likely ask several questions concerning ADDIE instructional design. For instance, every organization focuses on the financial and time feasibilities of every project that they intend to develop. Hence, Tesla Motors will likely ask about the cost of the entire process and how long the process would take. These questions will enable the company to plan appropriately by setting aside financial requirements and other resources. Also, the company is likely to ask about the efficiency of the system compared to the current one that exists and the difference in performance that the two systems would cause in the company. My favorite part of ADDIE instructional design is the analysis part which involves examining the previous applications, lessons, and practicalities of the system. I believe that everyone is anxious to understand the implication of the systems that they intend to bring to the organization (Pratiwi et al., 2019). However, analyzing the previous issues underlying the system can be challenging yet crucial in determining the future plans for the current system. One reason for developing interest in this stage is my anticipation to practice it more in the future. Hence, I will research on the approaches that one should use to achieve an understanding of analysis and the entire process that makes this step successful. |
