Grading Rubric Final Project

General guidelines:

Please read this rubric carefully, and refer back to the rubric and syllabus often, as you complete your final

project. I include a lot of detail on the rubric to ensure transparency in grading. Additionally, I have provided a self-

checklist with the rubric in checklist form to help you be able to apply the same scrutiny before submitting.

If something included on the rubric is not included in your presentation, points will be deducted for that section.

Additionally, if your presentation is longer than 12 TOTAL slides (not including references), points will be deducted. I

cannot grade everyone’s presentation properly in time if students submit very long presentations.

Slides:

Submission criteria change: The syllabus has been adjusted to request that you submit your slides with speaker notes

in addition to your video. This added submission component is intended to support a fair and complete review of your

work by providing an additional written format of your presentation content in the event that audio quality, technology

issues, pacing, pronunciation differences, or other communication factors make portions of the recording difficult to fully

access. Speaker notes will help ensure your ideas, knowledge, and effort are accurately evaluated.

• You will need to have detailed speaker notes (i.e., notes in the section below your slide that will not display on a

projector) for every slide. These notes serve as a “script” for your presentation. Speaker notes will be used as a

supplemental support for grading if any portion of the audio is difficult to fully access due to sound quality, technology

issues, pacing, pronunciation differences, or other communication factors.

Please note that speaker notes are intended to support your spoken presentation, not replace it. Content included only in

the notes, but not communicated in the recorded presentation, may not be reviewed.

On the actual slides, use short/partial sentences, bullet points, etc. so that your audience can read the key details, without

being overwhelmed by the amount of information written. The rubric gives me a “5-second” duration measure to read each

slide. For those of you who prefer preciseness, this comes to around +/- 50 words per slide or less because I can read

around 650 words per minute on average – but I will not be counting words per slide. Text must be large enough to be

visible on the screen (i.e., minimum 16-point font).

On slides with cited content listed, statements must have an in-text citation to avoid plagiarism*

o *If you do not properly cite statements on your slides, this is considered plagiarism, and may result in a failing

grade on the project and/or in this class.

o It is possible that you may think of a practical guideline or future research direction that you want to include in

your future direction section that is not listed in any of the articles you read. If this is the case, you do not need to include

an in-text citation for yourself; just make sure it is clear in your speaker notes that this is your own original idea.

References:

Your references should be novel references. This means you will need to look up additional journal articles to meet the

requirement for including at least 5 articles but may cite articles or readings from this course in addition. Best practice in

research considers journal articles published within the last 10 years.

o Use the instructions on Canvas for searching on PsycInfo and Google scholar to conduct your literature review.

Please do not do a basic Google search to locate articles; you will likely end up with sources that are not peer

reviewed or require payment to access.

Use of AI: Please be reminded of the AI policy for this course. If you choose to use AI for any portion of this project, it is

your responsibility to verify the information, edit the writing accordingly, and disclose its use. Improper use of AI will

greatly reduce your perceived professionalism and could result in consequences for plagiarism as submitting AI work is

not your own. If any evidence of improper use of AI, undisclosed AI use (as AI prosody and sycophancy are very easily

detectible) or plagiarism, you will receive zero points either on that section or the entire project.

Pinpoints 5 ptsFull MarksPinpoints include the exact pinpoints provided by the

professor and do not include additional pinpoints.

Professor and also include extraneous pinpoints or targets listed that

are not pinpoints

0 ptsNo MarksPinpoints are missing Pinpoints listed are not those

Measurement Categories C

5 ptsFull MarksClearly and correctly selected measurement category

for each pinpoint. Measurement systems selected for pinpoints can be

reliably and consistently measured by stakeholders. Explanation is

given of why methods were chosen and are fully aligned to pinpoint.

2.5 ptsPartial CreditMeasurement category is inappropriate.

Measurement systems selected for pinpoints would be difficult for

stakeholders to reliably and consistently measure. Explanation is given

of why methods were chosen is not accurate and include some that are

not aligned to pinpoint.

0 ptsNo MarksMeasurement categories for each pinpoint are missing

or all are incorrect. Measurement systems selected for pinpoints are

absent or incorrect. No explanation is given of why methods were

chosen, explanation is not relevent to course concepts, or all

explanations are incorrect. Measurement types do not align to pinpoint.
