Final Internship Paper
The Paper will include the Final Internship Report, as well as copies or originals of all Internship Forms completed throughout the semester. The Paper can also include photographs or other documentation of how the Internship contributed to the student’s education. Papers are to be placed in an electronic file that is clearly marked with the student’s name, host company’s name, semester, and internship course completed.
Final Internship Paper
Purpose:
The Final Internship Paper is an opportunity for the student to describe and reflect on what was gained from the internship experience and the ways in which the internship experience has made the student better prepared as a business professional. The expectation is that the student will relate work experience to that was learned in classes.
Standards:
This is a formal, professional paper. It should be prepared using appropriate grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting. It should use standard 1” margins on all sides and standard 12-point Times Roman font. Pages should be numbered.
Content:
The Final Internship Paper should contain a detailed description of the Host Organization, internship duties/responsibilities, and focus on the learning outcomes gained by the student during the internship. Students should emphasize the ways in which the internship experience enhanced their education, professionalism, and career developments skills. This document should focus on three primary questions:
· What did I do? (tasks, activities, projects)
· What did I learn? (knowledge gained, skills mastered, and competencies developed)
· How does this impact my business career?
General Final Paper Outline:
· Cover Page (1 page)
· Introduction (1 page) – General information about the host company; Intern position description.
· Final hours form (Master Log for all weeks logged and final total hours)
· Body (6 – 10 pages) Internship activities and outcomes. Knowledge and skills gained during the internship, relevance of the internship to the student’s course of study and career interests. Organize the information in this section using the following model. If you have been keeping track throughout the term, you should have no problem making the page minimum.
· Project A
· Activities – describe all activities involved in this project, reference samples of work in the Appendix
· Learning – describe knowledge, skills, and competencies gained as a result of these activities
· Relevance – talk about what specific classroom knowledge applied in this project and how this particular project was relevant to your educational and career goals.
· Project B
· Project C, etc.
· Conclusion (1 – 2 pages) – summary of the internship experience, skills and competencies gained, and feedback about the internship.
· Appendix – samples of projects and/or screenshots of electronic projects
