Feedback Week Four
Because of time constraints, researchers prefer to depend on their own expertise rather than alternative sampling approaches when using purposeful sampling. Purposive sampling has just one drawback, where a researcher may or may not have the ability to perform an effective sample procedure, thus one must bear this in mind while making a decision on sampling methods. In order to create a sample utilizing expert sampling, each researcher must be confident in their own abilities and knowledge of the topic matter. Nevertheless, researcher bias is only a significant danger to a study's credibility if the researcher fails to adequately evaluate or clearly articulate the criteria for his or her conclusions. A similar problem arises when scientists try to persuade participants that their study is typical of the bigger population they're trying to examine. It may be difficult to persuade an audience that the results would still hold true if other people and units of measurement were used, since researchers use their own judgment to pick subjects and units of measurement.
