Your essay will demonstrate the elements of this course’s student learner outcomes. In a 1,000-1,200- word essay in MLA style, you will make an assertion about your own aesthetic when it comes to short stories. You’ll defend this assertion by drawing from specific details and examples and quotations from at least five stories we have read thus far. Discuss how your aesthetic has changed or not changed during the semester. You will also draw on literary terms and styles we have discussed to help you accomplish this.

Go back to your story. You should have noted the parts of these stories that affected you the most (positively and negatively; what you like, what you love, what you dislike, what you hate). What did you keep track of from story to story and how did you think in larger terms across stories: “characters I can relate to” “faraway places” “definite endings” and so forth.
