Introduction
The topic I chose for my final research proposal is a depression in teens and getting the point of view of doctors on the subject. When it comes to my specific research question about my topic, it would be what is the difference between teens and adults suffering from depression if any? I would hypothesize that their environment and overall just based around their different life experiences and what exactly has been happening to them from the past, present, and future. This topic is important for me because I have experienced depression as a teen and it was something I struggled with for a long time and never understood why until I was an adult. In my opinion, depression is something that we can not always control and sometimes puts a lot of us, and we just don’t understand the triggers. When it comes to teens, I believe it is even more sensitive since they are still developing and going through puberty that their emotions are sometimes not always understood.
Literature Review
Buzi, R., Smith, P., Kozinetz, C., Peskin, M., & Wiemann, C. (2015). A Socioecological Framework to Assessing Depression Among Pregnant Teens. Maternal & Child Health Journal, 19(10), 2187-2194. doi:10.1007/s10995-015-1733-y
This article looks at teenagers who are pregnant and possibly suffering from depression at the same time. In this study, it involves 249 teen girls between the ages of 15-18 who were African American and Hispanic. Depression is already something that is a concern for pregnant women as it is, but postpartum depression is also something that is a major concern as well. “Infants of mothers who are depressed during pregnancy are at risk for adverse outcomes. Studies have found depressive symptoms in expecting mothers are associated with slow fetal growth rates, increased risk of preterm delivery, and low birth-weight”. (Buzi, Smith, Kozinetz, Peskin, & Wiemann, 2015, P. 2) To be able to look at different studies and see how they analyze their data and make comparisons is how I like to be able to understand and connect more with depression. So there for it is important to be able to look at different kinds of data differently and understand the different outcomes as well.

This study was one that I mentioned before in previous weeks, and it is a quantitative experimental research design. It is based around investigating the effects of business and accounting students in Taiwan compared to students here in the United States using the Solomon four-group research design. The test scores were broken down with MANOVA and meta-investigation. The outcomes demonstrate that the bookkeeping educational modules have not been as successful as the business organization educational programs as for both verbal and non-literal inventiveness. These outcomes show that in the present dynamic and focused business condition, the bookkeeping educational modules should be upgraded in an assortment of viewpoints in regards to innovative reasoning and critical thinking to address the difficulty.
I like that this article compared students from Taiwan to students here in the United States and still be able to use the same kind of research methods. This is beneficial to me because it will be able to help me make more comparisons when it comes to different scenarios having to do with teens here and teens in different countries.

This article was also one I chose in previous weeks, and it is a nonexperimental kind of research study that is based around being able to understand how people respond to stress when it comes to different things including medicine, education, and sports. In this article, it is based around correlational research methods and includes two different scenarios to be able to compare the different outcomes. To do this, they use the biopsychosocial model (BPSM) and the CAT research method to explore their theories. Overall in this study, it was able to show that there was diversity in the recordings and calculations having to do with the cognitive and physiological CAT measures. First of all, I had never heard of any of this kind of measures and study designs, so this topic made it one step closer into being able to look at my topic of depression that much closer in depth.
Methods
Design
When it comes to my design, it would be qualitative and use focus groups. It would also be non-experimental. My design approach is something that I believe is important when it comes to being able to verify different findings and being able to also look into the cultural settings to get faster and more reliable results. What's more, this takes into consideration a high level of outside legitimacy and unremarkable authenticity by repeating current discoveries through member replication and valuable replication to broaden learning. After the production of focus groups the members ought to be urged to likewise take an interest in a poll made after concentration amass information has been investigated keeping in mind the end goal to get singular perspectives which might be diverse on an individual premise as a result of the conceivable impacts of attractive social quality in a concentration bunch setting. This will allow the finding if clinicians are genuinely in a concession to subjects in hindrances to treatment, or not. These would then be able to be contrasted with the concentration bunch information. Ultimately, impetuses ought to be offered for cooperation in both the focus groups and also the survey made after concentration assemble information has been dissected. Such an impetus would avert differential steady loss and result in an impartial example with a specific end goal to increment inside legitimacy and also expanding in general investment.
Participants
Since I am handling teens with depression, it is important that they are screened individually first. According to Doody, Slevin, and Taggart (2013b), They mention that “Focus groups are carried out when specific information is needed from people with a certain characteristic and similar knowledge about a particular topic” (p. 17). For this situation, the particular members required would be clinicians with related knowledge of depression in teens. Since the delegate population is required to be authorized keeping in mind the end goal to treat those with depression, the correct size of the population is known. What's more, the likelihood of inspecting can be utilized. Since there are sub-gatherings of clinicians included (specialists, attendants, therapists, and united wellbeing experts), they would be able to utilize the irregular examining a strategy for stratified testing to catch a delegate test of the suppositions of each sub-gathering. Participants would be selected through flyers, notices, verbal, and staff gatherings. Members would then be screened for at least three long periods of involvement in youth psychological wellness administrations and related knowledge managing dejection and also required to give educated assent. Even though varieties in the measure of the example exist crosswise over research, as a rule, each concentration gathering ought to be between 4 to 12 members. Also within the study, the examiner would utilize a medium measured gathering of between 8-10 members for each concentration gathering, and between 6-10 center gatherings or enough information to have the measurably noteworthy immersion of the information keeping in mind the end goal to discover topics in the examination between the concentration gatherings.
It is likewise imperative to make a focus group which incorporates enough members to make an assorted variety of information that one may not gain on an individual premise. While additionally keeping a gathering so substantial as to make social, attractive quality issues bringing about people in the gathering not feeling great imparting their interesting insights, convictions, considerations, and encounters (Doody, Slevin, and Taggart, 2013b).
Procedure/Measures
Similar techniques utilized as a part of the earlier investigation by Hetrick et al. (2011) would be utilized. Using the utilization of semi-organized concentration gatherings and a duplicate of the four key suggestions of the NICE rules for treatment of misery in youngsters and youth will be the premise of the examination. The principal instruments utilized as a part of this examination would be the utilization of semi-organized concentration gatherings, the self-revealing device of a subsequent poll, and field notes. A period for each concentration gathering would be booked independently, sound recorded, and deciphered verbatim, and additionally field notes being taken. Each concentration gathering would comprise of between 8-10 people with at least three long stretches of involvement in their clinical field which had given educated assent and had been screened.
Information would be broken down through a consolidated procedure of steady examination investigation and watchwords in-setting examination in a methodical, successive, certain, and persistent process with a specific end goal to decrease information, convey importance to the information, and create a trail of confirmation which is tried and true, reliable, and irrefutable (Doody, Slevin, and Taggart, 2013a). This will set up unwavering quality and also legitimacy. When information was analyzed, and subjects were discovered a seven-point unipolar scaled poll with settled arrangement reactions in regards to these topics would be gotten using email to every person with a motivating force to take an interest. This will manage the cost of specialists a superior comprehension of a person's contemplations on such subjects while permitting a rating of every one of the topics introduced in the focus groups. Also to finish out my study, motivating forces would be given for full support after consummation of each concentration aggregate in a financial frame or maybe excursion time with a specific end goal to deliver high cooperation rates and expanded inside legitimacy of the investigation.
Data Analysis
When it comes to this study, it is a qualitative study. Therefore, it would not have to have a particular technique applied to it. Since the essential point is to reproduce the past investigation given by Hetrick et al. (2011), the objective is “ to acquire a clear record of the obstructions to actualizing the key suggestion from the NICE rules" (Hetrick et al., 2011, p. 995). Hsieh and Shannon (2005) contend that "regular substance investigation is by and large utilized with an examination outline whose point is to portray a marvel" (p. 1279). For this situation, depicting demeanors toward boundaries to the execution of the key proposals of the NICE rules. Obstructions recognized will at that point be arranged by subjects found in ensuing coding for every suggestion which are required to be the same all through concentration bunches in the present examination and in addition observed to be legitimate and solid through a subsequent poll, accordingly, offering further generalizability of the Hetrick et al. (2011) study and featuring a conceivable line of particular upgrades vital in a few regions which would then be able to be contrasted with center gathering information with offer a supplement and also confirm discoveries.
Ethical Issues
There are not a lot of constrained ethical concerns in this examination. This examination falls under the least hazard thinks about and would require passing an IRB under an absolved status. Members would be required to give informed consent, and full exposure would be given and secretly concerning the poll. Focus group information would stay anonymous and also any information given by members who choose to explore by taking an interest in the survey additionally. There are no morally faulty works on concerning this examination, which does not utilize experimentation, rather just assembling and breaking down information. Confidentiality is additionally ensured by not expecting clinicians to give individual data aside from the measure of involvement amid screening and email data for follow-up which would be secured under privacy agreements.
Conclusion
The main purpose of my paper was to introduce and get a deeper look into depression amongst teenagers and to also get a perspective from doctor standpoints. If it is one thing I have learned so far is that there are a few different methods that we can take when it comes to dealing with depression. The main aspect to take into consideration however when it comes to dealing with teenagers is that there come certain boundaries that are important to their safety and their privacy. I still agree and stand by focus groups and think that will always be a proper measure and procedure to stand by when it comes to the study. When it comes to my literature review articles, I still stand by them, and they were the ones I chose from previous weeks and the ones that I believe are major points in my study and the articles that stood out the most to me.
