Restrictions on the advanced practice nurse in the state of Florida.

The government has issued the standard of practice but the state itself has certain practice acts in place for the advanced practice nurse, and in Florida the state practice acts is very restrictive on the nurse practitioner. The legislature would have to agree to change its rules and regulations for the nurse practitioner.

There are many aspects that can be affected by this topic and change. By allowing the nurse practitioner to practice at their full scope of practice, it will benefit the population of the community by providing more sources of health care providers for the patients. It will also help with the shortage of doctors that is expected to occur due to the fact that many of the doctors are expected to retire in the next few years.

I will be focused on the topic of changing the restrictions for the nurse practitioners in the stated of Florida, specifically in the county of Brevard, FL and in outpatient clinics that see patients for chemotherapy treatments, immunotherapy treatments as well as other procedures.

If these changes were to be made to the legislation of the state, the nurse practitioner would be able to perform more activities of the roles without the restrictions of working specifically under a physician and they could provide care to more patients, as well as have more authority or privileges within the health care system.
