Subject: Inappropriate Use of Time on Social Media While at Work

Coworkers,

I have noticed with a lot of concern that many people in the office are spending most of the time on the social media. This memo serves as a reminder to use your working hours for just that, work.

From the just concluded survey that we conducted with the help of outsourced personnel on the Internet use across the company’s network, it was established that more than 95% of the individuals at the organization used almost half of thei working time loggen on to their social media platforms.

From an article that was recently publshed, the approximated cost of staffs collectively using the social media instead of working is more than 100 million dollars- calculated on basis of the daily average time spent in the social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Snapchat and Youtube among others.

When we apply those estimates to our 500 employees in the offices, we can get loss of about $400 a day. This estimate is conservative when we concider the extra costs that add up in extensive conversations that take place during the breaks.

Chatting with your colleagues and dealing with personal matters during break time while in the office is ok. Balancing the personal and professional obligations usually demands some non-work duties to be done during business hours. However, too much distractions detract the person from personal and team productivity.

Obviously, we do not want you to see this company as somewhere with draconian and drudgery laws. I promote a competitive and fun environment, and i acknowledge that we definitely will not be profitable if you are not happy or not satified with your jobs. Therefore, this serves as a reminder to be cautious with the way you use company time.

Thank you,

The Manager
