CONT. People always ask how we do it.p y People think we get breaks when kids are with other parent. Too many people seem to think single mothers receive child support. Many married women think single motherhood Many married women think single motherhood feels like when their husbands are on a trip. Outsiders think that we all ‘chose’ to do it on our own and because of that, we should not complain as it’s our fault. REALITIES I am so much happier as a single mom than I pp g have ever lived before. Single motherhood affects friendships. We have limited time. And although the single mom is fully aware of how to do this and the benefits it brings, she’s always thinking ahead. She is cautious about dating. Basic parental rights apply equally to both mothers and fathers and remain with each parent whether they are married or single TSparent whether they are married or single unless a parent surrenders these rights or does something that causes parental rights

Rather than falsely claiming that single motherhood is a major cause of poverty, we
should support single mothers in raising pp g g children.
Instead of assuming single motherhood needs, ask, listen to those who are living the
situationsituation. Single mothers work twice as hard, or thrice,
just because a married couple is able to get home from work before the kids are dropped f h l d ’t i l t l ft from school doesn’t mean a single parent left
to work more shifts is neglecting her children, she should be praise for doing it –
alone.
ATKIN’S STORY
Nyong Atkins, who was raised by a single mother, was the first member of his family to go to college. But not the last. After Atkins went away to school, his mother went on to earn her college degree as well as an MBA. Atkins, now an author, is grateful to his mom for so

mother was 18years old then. To date our family is respected and the wedding praised. SO, YES, I COME FROM A

After high school, I enrolled in a pharmaceutical course. I was later employed in a law firm, where I got pregnant and was
fired. After the birth of my son I opened a construction business, after which I was offered a job at United Nations. I
ll b k i th U i it (S i l W k) enroll back in the University (Social Work). To be where we are, and to go where we want to be, I work
twice as hard. I raise my son portraying the value of education, religion and
lf li t E h il t i bl i t ith NO self reliant. Each mile stone is a blessing to us, with NO gap whatsoever left to regret my parenting single handedly.

home BUT adversity is a good sparring partner.
