Essay #2: Rhetorical Analysis
Pick an article from a reputable publication and analyze it. The article you pick needs to be on a debatable topic (gun legislation, marijuana legalization, queer rights, police reform, etc.), and it needs to take a firm stance. You may want to find an article that has many obvious problems to make this easier for you. To find an article, Google “(topic) op-ed,” where (topic) is the subject you are looking for.
Summarize and dissect the article’s arguments. Are they using any logical fallacies? How do they use logos, ethos, and pathos? What about the article is effective and what about it is not?

You may want to use They Say, I Say, So What? Format.
They Say: What the article says.
I Say: Your Analysis.
So What?: Where do you stand on this issue, and why?
*** Your Essay Must:
o have an intro with a thesis and a conclusion.
o be 3+ pages.
o be in MLA format. o use proper in-text citations.
