Application security involves activities which are application software related. It permits the user in any computer to perform certain tasks. The tasks participate in receiving and sending e-mails, web browsing, and document creation like the spreadsheet. Application software security is enhanced by facilitating security during development, deployment, testing, maintenance, and design. When the application is secured, data confidentiality, integrity and availability is protected. The software either licensed or in-house should be checked if it makes data available when required also not allowing access to users who are not authorized. The application ensures that there is a control layer between the organizational data and various users (Solomon, 2013).

            The best practices of Microsoft Windows and application security includes changing the password of the router admin in cases where user log for the first time into the router. This is because there exist default passwords and usernames from various vendors. The network should be encrypted regularly such as data manipulation and electronic communication s like file transfer, data creation and email (Solomon, 2013). Lastly is that updates should be done in a manner which is timely so as to secure the network. The updates include antivirus and Microsoft updates because every day has potential new malware, hackers, and viruses. It is so interesting that one day late without an update can lead to network attack.
