convert from CAD to eQuest
Step 1 : Open a New File Upon opening eQuest (Depending on the Version)
Select “Create a New Project via the Wizard”
Step 2 : Select a Design Platform
Once a type of file is selected to either
“Open” or “Start”
It will prompt you to either selected a
“Schematic Design Wizard” (used for not enough information)
or a “Development Wizard”
(used for enough information)
Step 3: Selecting the Footprint Shape
After Selecting a Design Platform (In this example: Schematic Design Wizard)
Another box will be prompted to advise you
to select a “Footprint Shape”
Select “Custom”
Step 4 : Customizing Footprint
Now, if you do not want any of the default “Footprint Shape” options you have the authority to change the “Footprint Shape” to “Custom”
Another box will be prompted to advise you to select either a “Previously Defined
Footprint” or a “Blank Slate”
To import a CAD file select “Blank Slate” and “import CAD file from
drop-down menu.
Step 5 : Select Drawing
Next use the File Explorer to find the CAD Drawing you would like
to import and select.
If no drawings show up search for DXF files
But then…...
Step 6 : Error
An Error may occur stating that it is an
“Invalid File Version”
To correct this error...
Step 7 : Correcting the Invalid Version Error
Open the CAD drawing in Autocad
Click “Save Drawing As”
Scroll Down under “Files of Type” and Select
“AutoCad 2013/LT2013 Drawing (“dwg)”
Now try to open this .dwg file in Equest
Step 8 : CAD Drawing Properities
A box will then be prompted to create some “CAD Drawing
Properties” for the selected file
Under “CAD Drawing Settings” it will ask the “Type of Units” and customize the dimensions. Use
the default:
“1 CAD Unit - 1 inches” (in this example)
Once customized Select “Apply”
Step 9 : Complete Importation
After customizing the CAD Drawing File
Settings and selecting “Apply”
The AutoCAD Drawing will successfully be imported to
the chosen platform.
