Based on the in class activity in class #3 complete the following.
1. Develop a quick reference formal categorization system using the handout given in class. If class was missed, look at the weekly lecture to help better understand the purpose of this. 5 marks
2. Explain the detail of each category in the categorization chart (elaborate in more detail). 5 marks.
3. Using Avherald, select at least 7 examples, 1 for each category of the categorization chart. Provide a quick overview of the incident/accident followed by a brief summary of why it applies to that category. Use examples from your categorization chart and summary to prove why. If your explanation lacks substance and examples, no marks will be given.
You may not use any example incidents/accidents discussed in class. If you use an incident/accident from another group marks will be deducted. So you may go back in years as far as information is available on the site. 10 marks
4. Why is categorization important in an Operational Control environment? What does it expedite? What benefit or value does it provide? 5 marks
5. Now that you have a better understanding of the importance and objective of an ERP, your organization has requested the following support. Your airline is planning to start operations into the U.S and the DOT and NTSB have requested a plan showing your compliance to the US Federal Family Assistance Plan revised in December 2008 (this file is available on Blackboard under assignments). If not fulfilled, the DOT will NOT provide permission for your carrier to operate into the U.S. Please review the below tasks carefully. Provide an executive summary of the recommendations to your airlines corporate head office in regards to incorporating the regulatory requirements into their ERP plan. Special attention to the victim support tasks towards the air operator. Focus on the key elements that will need to be included in your ICS. (Introduction, key points or elements of the document, followed by a conclusion). 10 marks
· 5 marks for Mechanics and effort with design will be assigned.
· This assignment is to be completed in groups of 3. Ensure you reference and support any opinions with factual research.
· Marks will be deducted for format issues, grammatical/sentence structure errors, and for leaving out references. Marks may be added for additional effort and creativity. No rubric is provided for this assignment, so pay careful attention to instructions in class.
