ACCT4400 Course paper

Greetings Hardworking ACCT 4400 Students!  There seems to be a bit of confusion about the requirements for the course paper and the case analysis.  So, let me say the following specifically addressing what you should do for the two assignments.

Course Individual Research Paper:  Everyone must upload to blackboard an individual research paper for 20% of the earned course grade.  The topic of the paper is RoMM because it will help you do the case.  It should be 12-15 pages in length and include 5-7 references.  But, considering the paper will be double spaced and have a cover page, abstract, and separate page for references, that means about 10 pages of content.  The introduction and conclusion are redundant (meaning that they say the same thing) that leaves less than 10 pages of substance which is not bad for a course paper.  This is an individual effort and must be your own original words and work.

Course Paper:  Do the course paper on the new RoMM Exposure Draft.  Just describe what the new rule says.  If you Google RoMM a number of things will come up that you can use.  The CPA firms all post their thoughts on new rules on their web sites which you can use as references in your paper.  Read the exposure draft but you do not need to read all of that - just the beginning parts.  Then read what other people are saying about the new exposure draft and that will help you to start getting the words fitting together correctly in your brains.

Course Research Paper Guidelines: Use established style requirements. Quickly speaking, the course paper format requirements are:

1. A major individual research effort.

2. Approx. 15 pages but that depends on the difficulty of the topic.

3. Double spaced, 12 pt font, 1" margins all around.

4. FORMAL DOCUMENTS ARE NEVER RIGHT JUSTIFIED. Justify left margin only.

5. Topic regarding ASC Updates and assigned by instructor.

6. Cover page, abstract, introduction, literature review section, then SEPARATELY your opinion section.

7. 5-7 references on a reference page.

I prefer footnotes although established style requirements presently use endnotes.
