Explain what type of virtual management characteristics will be implemented and why?

The management of virtual teams requires skills different from the control of traditional groups. The leaders of such units must possess the following characteristics. To start with, a Virtual leader should have strong interpersonal skills. The leader must remain connected to the team irrespective of the distance and time. He must as well maintain regular communications, give feedbacks, reward efforts, and manage conflicts effectively. These activities will significantly inspire the team to achieve set goals. Another characteristic of a virtual leader is the ability to take the initiative in various scenarios. He must set a clear example of what team members he expects team members to do, delegate, and accomplish tasks accordingly. Doing this would make members proactive and balance long term goals with immediate priorities. Moreover, a virtual leader should demonstrate top-notch flexibility. He must be able to work in an unstructured environment, shift priorities, make timely adjustments, and free to consult where needed (Brewer, 2015).

How will the virtual teams work together?

The virtual team will work together through the following. First, team members will get to know each other on a personal level, which will build confidence among themselves. They will also be required to follow through their commitments and be responsible for their actions. The drive will build trust among themselves. Secondly, the teams will work in harmony and share individual strengths to achieve the required outcomes. Various tools will be put in place to facilitate this. Also, motivation will be a key, and the team leaders will be tasked to understand their members, involve them in decision making, recognize their efforts and do everything to make them feel like part of the team. Besides, members will assist the leader in his duties. Delegating will tap on the creativity of team members and enhance commitment to the team goals. Moreover, the lines of communication will be open, which will encourage interactions among the team members (Duarte & Snyder, 2011).

What tools are they using for communications and task management?

Project management software will be essential in the management of a virtual team. It guarantees transparent control of the workflow where team members can see what their colleagues in various locations are doing. Besides, software tools and cloud-based platforms will encourage communication among team members. For instance, video conferencing will be allowing members to associate directly on regular bases. Other tools that will be applied include virtual private networks, emails, and telephone lines.

How will i manage the teams in both locations in terms of language, cultural, time, political, and economic differences?

Teams are the pillars of any successful organization as they provide diverse skills, talents, and perspectives of a group of individuals. Formerly team members were collocated, but recently managers are building geographically dispersed team’s members are, comes from different cultures and speak different languages. The management of such teams becomes essential as even the smallest degree of separation can significantly affect the quality of collaboration. The organization can do the following to manage the teams.

Emphasize teamwork skills. Though the primary motivation behind virtual teams is to draw on the superior skills from remote locations, this should not be the only basis for managers in the formation of virtual teams (Walesh, 2012). The team members must be able to communicate, coordinate, and provide mutual support to each other. this social skill is essential for ensuring teams achieve enormous potential.

Promote self-leadership across the team. It will be tough for me to detect and solve any deficiency in teamwork in the virtual team, unlike in the current units. I will ensure the virtual teams have broad-based leadership capabilities. An emphasis on the need for members of the team to be more self-sufficient will be good to go. They should not be relying on me as I will be in less position to help. I will also arrange with the human resource team to see how members can get trained on the skills.

I shall arrange for frequent one on one meeting of virtual teams. The sessions will be especially useful for encouraging social skills will improve informal communication and team cohesion. For instance, I will use project launch meetings to bring everyone together in one location, and members will acquit themselves with the team. A shared understanding of the goal will also be harnessed among the group.

Promote a global culture — individual team members should have a global mindset for the existence of a conducive environment for virtual teams. I will apply various strategies like assigning staff in foreign locations and intercultural training. These commitments will promote the team's ability to cope with the problem of distance when working in virtual teams (DuFrene, 2019).

Conclusions

In conclusion, virtual management is the way to go for Herfy. If implemented very well, the company will leverage it to expand its horizons and accomplish its goals.
