This EBP focuses on funding opportunities for children and/or adolescents who experience symptoms of behavioral health issues and mental health issues, but also possess intellectual disabilities (ID). This program will help to diagnose mental health conditions in individuals with ID who may also be needing additional care. Through the process of safety and efficacy of psychotropic medications this EBP can be very beneficial to the targeted community group.

The goal of the intervention is to help children of the target community to access more resources and obtain the highest level of care even if they are diagnosed with symptoms of ID. The intervention will be carried out by using trials of psychotropic medications that can help to adjust levels of chemical endorphins that are transmitted/released throughout the thinking process; this process can also be extremely difficult and time consuming for someone with ID, mental, and behavioral health related symptoms.

Headsprout Early Reading program’s goal is to ensure reading success for all children in grades K-2. The program caters to a multitude of learners on different reading levels.

Reading levels in one classroom can differ from child to child.

However, with this program it allows children to work on different reading levels simultaneously online in the same classroom. Headsprout Early Reading is appropriate for our program because it not only teaches reading, but emphasizes the importance of early literacy. Also, it directly correlates with the mission of our program to strive for better educational opportunities for children and literacy for all.

Big Buddy strives to have strong mentors who have documented success in academics and the ability to motivate and support the needs of the participants. Each participant is paired with a mentor that focuses mainly on the personalized needs of that child and tries to implement a successful way to allow that participant to reach individual goals. The program openly discusses issues that are plaguing the community (suicide, teenage pregnancy, depression, substance abuse, and bullying) and promotes ongoing workshops to allow open discussions that are used to diffuse the issues. These workshops have proven to be successful as the participants feel safe to openly discuss personal issues.
