Developing a Culture of Evidence-Based Practice
As your EBP skills grow, you may be called upon to share your expertise with others. While EBP practice is often conducted with unique outcomes in mind, EBP practitioners who share their results can both add to the general body of knowledge and serve as an advocate for the application of EBP.
In this Discussion, you will explore strategies for disseminating EBP within your organization, community, or industry.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and reflect on the various strategies presented throughout the course that may be helpful in disseminating effective and widely cited EBP.
This may include unit-level or organizational-level presentations, poster presentations, and podium presentations at organizational, local, regional, state, and national levels, as well as publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Reflect on which type of dissemination strategy you might use to communicate EBP.
By Day 6 of Week 9
Respond to at least two of your colleagues on two different days by offering additional ideas to overcome the barriers to strategies suggested by your colleagues and/or by offering additional ideas to facilitate dissemination.

I will utilize RELIABILITY ORGANIZATIONS (HROs) because the concept and strategies are very organized and clearly stated. According to Melnyk B. (2012) the five ideas of HRO are first sensitivity to operations and familiarity of the systems and processes that affect patient care. The second is a reluctance to simplify. The author mentioned that it is positive to create simple techniques in health care systems but not to oversimplify explanations for adverse events. Third preoccupation with failure. Although it is imperative to gather detailed data on the number of medical errors or sentinel events in a health care system, when an error or adverse event happens, it is an opportunity to examine the root cause of the problem thoroughly and make improvements. Forth is deference to expertise. In an HRHO, leaders listen to and respond to others' insights, including direct care clinicians, patients, and family members. Fourth, input from others is considered in establishing care processes and strategies to improve safety and quality. Fifth is resilience. According to the author, leaders and staff need to be trained to respond when system failures occur. The author added that they must be prepared and equipped with the right tools and resources to respond to at-risk situations and prevent medical errors or sentinel events from occurring. The barriers in this strategy are how fast we can provide solutions after gathering medical errors or sentinel events in the health care system and resiliency because many people do not like change. Hesitancy in implementing change will always be a challenge, especially now that the turnover rate is very high. One may train a group of people on the first attempt of implementation, but there is no guarantee that those people will stay to implement the changes in strategy successfully (Melnyk, 2012).
In addition, I will be utilizing Advancing Research and Clinical Practice (ARCC). According to Melnyk et al. (2011) emphasizing transdisciplinary health care professionals and administrators should routinely be involved when planning and implementing evidence-based organizational policies. The author also added that building an evidence-based team is empirical in sustaining clinical practice. Establishing an EBP team and support from management is the first step in cultivating EBP culture in a facility. However, the barriers to implementing and sustaining ARCC in a facility are how adaptive the clinician is to change and maintain mentorship. Like I have mentioned in my earlier statement, the turnover rate is so high. Training to obtain change costs resources and money for the facility, and this would be a huge challenge to establish, maintain, and sustain advanced practices in a facility.
To overcome these barriers, offering better pay, offering incentives, and to maintain a positive work environment are some factors that will decrease the turnover rate. In reality, no matter how good the support system is within the facility, the staff will not stay long if the pay is not competitive. In addition, offering opportunities for career and education advancement can also encourage staff to stay.

Module 5 discussion: Strategies for disseminating EBP
Applying evidence-based practice (EBP) is essential and helps improve organizations, communities, or industries. The results of EBP must be disseminated to become relevant through implementation and evaluation. However, dissemination strategies are different, and it is essential to choose the most relevant for the need to become effective. Exploring the most inclined and the less relevant for a particular objective will help understand how to disseminate EBP.
Some of the essential dissemination strategies in an organization include nurse team meetings and a website. As provided by Sam et al. (2020), websites play a vital role in disseminating organizational materials to the employees, customers, and population. Most people rely on the website to know what an organization stands for and the measures to improve operations. For instance, an individual looking for a job explores its website to know about its history and recent updates. EBP providing improved operation measures can be explored by the scholars, internal and external stakeholders to understand the company. Secondly, clinical EBP can be disseminated effectively through nurse team meetings (Fencl & Matthews, 2017). The process involves updating employees about measures that have been undertaken to improve processes. PowerPoint materials can support the dissemination criterion with a projector, or the audience can be taken through the materials verbally with some written supporting materials for reference.
Some of the dissemination strategies may not be fit for a particular audience. For instance, as noted by Dirks et al. (2018), brochures are one of the least effective for disseminating EBP to the community or industries. Brochures are materials that can be tampered with easily or become illegible. Malicious persons may change or damage some of the materials that provide the most relevant information to people. Secondly, journals are not the best procedures for disseminating information to an industry or community. Some people do not like reading a lot and require easy materials to access and read quickly. Journals cannot serve the purpose. Therefore, it is vital to choose the dissemination strategy objectively.
