writing assignment #10 -- Dressmaker of Khair Khana paper

Read all of Dressmaker of Khair Khana and respond.

For your reflective paper, choose 3 questions from those listed below to address.  Everyone must answer question #1, you then choose TWO more from the list.  Your paper should be four - five pages in length, typed and double-spaced with reasonable margins of approximately 1-inch.  If you choose to have a title page (which is not necessary), it may not count as one of the five pages.  Footnotes are not necessary but if you quote from the book please list the page number in parentheses after the quote.  List full bibliographical information for the title of your paper, using Chicago Manual of Style).

*Contractions and abbreviations are not acceptable in a college-level paper.

*Numbers less than 20 should be spelled, rather than written in numerical form (write “seven”, not “7”). 

*Numerical dates are rarely possessive – it should be “1940s”, not “1940’s”. 

You will be graded on grammar and spelling as well as how well you convey your ideas.  Worth a possible 100 points.

*The Taliban only controlled the government of Afghanistan -- war with the U.S. after the September 11, 2001 attack took down the Taliban government.  However, they remain a viable threat still in Afghanistan and in neighboring countries like Pakistan.

1. How did the lives of women in Afghanistan change once the Taliban was in charge? (Everyone must answer this question).

5. What was the impact of the war with the U.S. on the lives of common Afghani citizens?

6. What were Kamila’s goals after the fall of the Taliban?  How did she see these goals as helping to change the lives of women in her country?
