As a nurse and a health care team member, my role is to have the ability to broadly assess the patient’s clinical, emotional and social situation and draw upon the available resources to create a patient-centric care plan. Nurse’s adaptability, empathy, communication skills, teamwork and commitment to follow through on care which create a stronger leadership and encourage good team collaboration and demonstrate stewardship. Patients’ health could be complex without teamwork. However, showing great responsibility towards patients/families, coworkers and being accountable, respect, honesty, and having direct working relationship with positive influence on the other health care team members will improve quality outcomes, patient experience, patient safety and healthy work environment (Collaborative Health Care: How Nurses Work in Team-Based Settings, n.d.).
