I will go for monitoring as this is very important; we can start a project and move through the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing phase. All the processes work together, but monitoring is done at all levels of project management. No matter where you are in development, all the elements must be monitored and reported. Monitoring is what makes sure that there are checks and balances while doing project management. We must understand that each project component complements one another and ensures that nothing falls into the cracks. Monitoring starts from the beginning.

The monitoring and controlling process group gauges how the project is going. Additionally, they track the things that occur outside the construct of the plan. This task requires they work with the initiating process group not only at the beginning of project execution, but also when changes become necessary. They would interact with the planning process group in a similar manner. Regarding the monitoring and controlling process group’s interaction with the execution progress group, it would be required for the reasons previously discussed. Additionally, of the execution is lagging, the monitoring and controlling process group would implement measures to get things going on time again. Finally, they interact with the closing processes group when they report execution as complete. Basically, any time a change occurs, the monitoring and controlling process group is working with all the other groups.

Process groups are essential for successful project execution and must be included in all projects as well as the project phases. According to Schwalbe (2018), the monitoring and controlling processes are defined as regularly measuring and monitoring the progress of the project to ensure that the objectives are being met. The monitoring and controlling processes should be executed at each phase to establish if the project is worth the team's effort to continue you. One method for monitoring and controlling is the use of performance reporting which allows for the identification of any issues and the necessary changes to be made to ensure that project remains on course. Monitoring and controlling processes should be to consistently measure the capabilities of the project to meet expectations at each phase. By doing so the project managers can make the necessary changes to refocus each segment onto tasks to meet project needs or allow for the team to analyze data and determine if the project is worth continuing. Each phase will return specific data that can be analyzed through methods such as performance reporting and will allow the project manager to gain a big-picture view of how well the project is progressing. Monitoring at the planning phase may return positive data but when executed there is a negative shift and by constantly viewing the project at each step the team can consistently make the necessary adjustments.
