Is the most popular mobile operating system. It supports smartphones, tablets, eBook readers and computers.

Description

1. Packaged Software

Packaged together as a bundle of software programs, this program is used collectively and has homogenous features and functionality. An example is Microsoft Office which entails Microsoft Word, MS Excel, and MS Publisher etc.

The software programs may sometimes have options to buy singularly but it is more advisable to purchase the whole package.

2. Custom Software

A software that is tailor-made for a particular user. It only entails the features and capabilities desired by the user who it is developed for. Compared to off-the-shelf software, it is more preferable as it is user-specific. It is mostly acquired by huge organizations for more critical functionality.

3. Web Based Software

It is a software installed on servers that are connected to the internet. To use it, you must connect to these servers via the internet. Is more popular with media sites and email applications such as Yahoo and Gmail. Others include applications pertinent to Finance and Accounting, Retail sales and Navigation. Has capability of being housed in Cloud technology. It reduces cost as there is no need to install physically software in any device thus more efficient for business.

4. Open Source Software

It is software whose source code is made available to the public. This enables modification, redistribution and use of the software for functions pleased. It is mostly developed out of collaborations with the public. Nobody holds exclusive ownership rights to this software and is customarily managed by a company. Examples include Mozilla Firefox web browser, VLC media player and the Unix series of operating systems.

5. Shareware

Shareware is proprietary software provided to user free of cost initially. It is often packaged as downloadable off the internet. It initially offers a period of free use. After such a time the user may be required to upgrade and enter a membership where they would subscribe or by a consumer version of the software. Shareware is broken down into adware, donation ware, demoware, nagware and freemium software.

6. Freeware

Freeware is software provided to the user for free. Its difference with open source software is that re-distribution and modification without permission from the owner of its rights is prohibited. Its source code is not conventionally available to the public. Even though it is provided for free, it is mostly used by its developers to promote other versions of itself that hold more features and capabilities. Examples include Skype and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

7. Public Domain Software

Public Domain Software is software open to the public where no ownership rights, patents or trademarks are imposed. It can be modified, sold or distributed by anyone without requirement of permissions from anyone. A waiver verbalization is used to conventionally take all rights from its developed. This requires that the person is no longer taken as it pristine author.

Demonstrate that you can manage files on your computer by looking at the files on your computer and locating at least five files or folders that should be renamed or relocated to improve the organization and make it easier to locate information on your computer. 4. Browse and search the Internet for public domain software. View the software’s requirements and then check your computer system. Will this software run on your system? Why, or why not?

Indeed, my computer meets the minimum requirements to acquire i.e. download public domain software. This will take just my overriding of the security software I have in my computer so as to facilitate the download of such a program and its use on my device.

It is with intent that I avoid such public domain software as its source code can be highly manipulated as it is in the public domain. This is due to there being no ownership in the form of patenting, trademarks or copyrights. Public domain software can be modified, distributed and sold even without attribution to anyone, a thing that is uncommon of copyrighted software where usage rights granted are limited.

5. Download a free mobile app that has a practical use. Write an evaluation of the app. If you do not have the capability to download an app, choose an app, research it, and write an evaluation based on your research.
