Brand Positioning

Before I decide to buy proactive, I decided to try another brand for acne treatment. I recently purchased Neutrogena facial soap for my sister who was having acne problems. I didn’t buy this product because of the marketing I as advertising but due to the cost of the item. Within a few days of using the soap, her skin had cleared up. Using the marketing mix table provided by Finch(2012), I was able to understand the 4ps of marketing a little better.

The 4 P element of marketing aligns with the strategy categories of this matrix. Because the product is very cost efficient it focus more on a broader market instead of a narrow one. The pricing variable includes both economic and psychological characteristics. In keeping with the marketing concept, the objective is to make decisions and develop plans that relate the 4 Ps to the target market to provide greater perceived value than competitors can offer (Finch 2012).

There is always room for improvement when marketing products. What I like about this product is the cost. It is not as expensive as other skincare product, and it works just as well as any pricier products. They didn’t put their products in a specific store that a particular type of consumers would buy. They made it available to all retail stores.
