Write a 500-word analysis of a famous speech delivered by a public figure that influenced history. Examples include:

· Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address

· Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor speech (Dec. 8, 1941)

· Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech

· Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech

· Winston Churchill’s “Fight on the Landing Grounds” speech

Your analysis should identify the speaker’s thesis, or main theme he or she is using to persuade the audience. You should also identify the main points of the speech. In your analysis, you should discuss the following:

· Introduction – Did it grab your attention? What technique did the speaker use to begin the speech?

·

· Speaking style – Is the speaker’s style formal or informal? What type of language does the speaker use? Is he or she believable? Was the speaking style appropriate for the audience?

· Visual support – Did the visuals match the language? Did the speaker’s manner of dress support his thesis? What was the setting or background?

· Rhetoric --- What techniques did the speaker use to keep the audience interested and engaged? Repetition? Alliteration?

· Conclusion – Was the speaker’s conclusion supported by the main points of the speech? Did the speaker persuade you?

Requirements: 500 words, 12-point font, double-spaced. You must have a reference page listing all sources used, including for the speech itself. References should be in APA format.
