Methodology

In order to ensure that the University Employee Tuition Assistance Program is accomplishing its goals, we will need to collect and analyze data from multiple sources. These include staff members utilizing the program, staff members who are not, and the leadership in charge of the program. The goal of recording these findings is to see why certain individuals are using the program and why some are not. Also, we are seeking to ensure that the original goals of the program are still being achieved or if they need to be updated. Speaking with those who lead of the program will allow us to see how the goals of the program are currently being perceived.

To record our findings, we will use a mixed method approach to analysis that emphasizes appreciative inquiry. We will focus on the aspects of the ETAP that need to be changed in order for it to achieve its goals and enable the individuals using it to succeed. We will conduct surveys and, if possible, interviews with the leaders of the program. The survey will be sent out to the leaders and staff at University. From the survey, we will gain information on why certain individuals chose to take this advantage and why others do not. This will allow us to make a recommendation on how to best market and emphasize this program. The information gained from the interviews will show us if the principal objects of the program are still in place from when it started to today.

The survey will be a variety of questions based on the Likert scale model, essay model, and yes and no questions. This survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete, allowing the participants to finish it quickly and lowering the time barrier that may deter participants. From this survey, we will be able to identify the aspects of the ETAP that are positive and which aspects need strengthening. A sample of the survey questions can be seen below.
