Blaze Mining Case Study
Introduction
Business organizations are founded to make profits through the production of goods and
services. There is a need for functional management and visionary leadership that understands
the market and the needs of the people they serve to achieve this goal. With the understanding of
the market, the workers can work towards achieving the goals of the organization they work for
(Bierema, 2020). For instance, if the organization focuses on mining, the workers should
understand the highly marketable minerals to capture and retain the market. Similarly, all other
organizations must understand the dynamics within their organizations and align their work to
meet the specific dynamics. This essay will analyze the Blaze Mining organization and highlight
the organization’s problems from an organizational development consultant perspective as well
as provide solutions.
The Current Overview Of The Company
Blaze Mining Case Study is a company whose success has been hindered by poor
leadership and lack of teamwork among the employees. The organization continues to
experience challenges that emanate from poor leadership, lack of concern for the organization's
vision, and harmonious implementation of the company policies. It is also evident that the
organizational culture and structures have not been aligned with the missions and visions of
Blaze Mining Company. There is a need to carefully analyze and recommend the most
appropriate approaches to support the leadership and the employees to redirect their energy to the
wellbeing of their organization, including supporting and promoting a common culture that leads
to achieving the organization's goals.

The Problem Identified
Based on the available information, Blaze Mining Company’s leadership structure has
negatively affected their operations and the ability to coordinate their activities to achieve the
organization's goals effectively. The first approach to supporting the organization is to
restructure the leadership and create a working environment where each member feels part of the
organization's operations. Restructuring the leadership may require appraisal and individual
evaluation of all employees in the organization.
Solutions To The Problems
The appraisal process should focus on identifying key areas of weaknesses and strengths
of each of the employees in the organization. With a SWOT analysis of all the staff members, it
would be easy to assign duties and responsibilities to the existing members based on what they
can do best (Bierema, 2020). For instance, the organization's leadership may decide to conduct
an appraisal based on the commitment to work, which is key to the success of any organization.
Here, the administration's main focus is to identify some of the employees whose dedication to
work can help the organization move.
The second approach is to analyze the organizational culture. Organizational culture
plays a critical role in structuring the organization's operations by aligning the duties and
responsibilities of the organization's core values with the missions and statements of the
organization. The organizational culture is crucial in determining how workers relate to one
another and how they implement the organization's policies (Bierema, 2020). It is also
instrumental in making key corporate social responsibility, public relations policies, and
4
marketing decisions. Most importantly, creating an organizational culture acceptable by all
stakeholders motivates the employees to be driven by purpose.
Organizational culture can motivate the workers to pull together towards the common
goal of the organization. It is imperative to mention that workers have a better method of solving
problems in an organization if they are offered an opportunity to participate in problemsolving
actively. In this regard, creating an organizational culture that acknowledges and recognizes the
workers' contributions is one approach to involving the workers and solving the problem of lack
of collaboration between different departments.
Goalsetting is an important step towards achieving the overall goals of the organization.
With structured functions of the organization, each department will set goals that they can
achieve within the time allocated. Locke’s Goal Setting theory emphasize an organization should
establish goals which can be measured and clear (Anagreh & Al Masaeid, 2020). The goals are
based not only on the departmental needs but also on the organization's overall goals. For
instance, the department of finance should be tasked with ensuring that all organization
operations are based on the budgetary allocations and that the organization spends prudently.
Similarly, the marketing department should focus on expanding the company's market by
ensuring that the products and services offered in the organization are widely known across the
target market. This will improve revenue generation. With a clear definition of the department's
goals, it is easy to evaluate the effectiveness of the methods applied in achieving the goals and
making any possible adjustments to achieve them. On the same note, each department has to
align its goals to the organization's overall goals to enhance the achievability of the goals.

Human resource management is a key department in the organization that can
significantly impact productivity, marketing, and financial spending. It is important to structure
the department of human resources to promote internal discipline in terms of adherence to the
company rules and regulations, remaining committed to the goals of the organization, and
creating an environment for both personal and professional development. Here, the human
resources department must motivate the workers to perceive the organization as theirs and steer
clear of any doubts that their contributions to the organization are limited to salary and
remuneration. To achieve the desired workplace environment, there is a need to propose relevant
changes in departments based on the appraisal results.
The appraisal can offer the basis for the promotion and motivation of the employees. The
use of intrinsic motivation strategic in the workplace can positively impact the workers and the
organization. Intrinsic motivation is not only sustainable but also easy to supervise and evaluate.
The human resource department will be instrumental in making such key changes. Besides
inherent motivation, the human resource management department can also prepare the workers
to manage change such as leadership changes, roles allocation, and promotional activities. With
the structuring of the leadership of the organization, the workplace environment is likely to
change, and some employees may resort to opposing the changes or even quitting the
organization. As such, conflict management should become the focus for Blaze Mining
Company administration. With effective conflict management strategies, the managers can find
the causes of the lack of cooperation and collaboration among the workers and propose an
approach that motivates the employees and promotes the spirit of oneness in the organization.

Training and professional growth are pertinent to the organization. With proper and
relevant training on a wide range of issues related to the organizational culture and the modern
needs of the market, the workers will be able to respond effectively to the market needs, such as
the preferences and tastes of the customers (Bierema, 2020). On the same note, the workers will
understand their role in the production and distribution of goods and services. Most importantly,
the training will prepare the workers to apply modern technology in the communication, display,
and distribution of goods and services.

Blaze Mining organization. The mission and vision was highlighted as nonexisting and this
