The Significance of Inquiry: To Enable Me To Be A Good Consumer of Research and To Make
Data-Driven Informed Decision Making1; DrK, RS6539, Fall 2023 [Analysis: 20 POINTS]
What does it mean to be a person that inquires or asks questions in order to gather
information or knowledge, whether it pertains to personal or professional research? According to
The University of Montana (2023), “Research allows you to pursue your interests, to learn
something new, to hone your problem-solving skills and to challenge yourself in new ways.” In
other words, research and inquiry are necessary for one to become a good consumer of research.
Therefore, if research is important, how can being a good consumer of these investigative
outcomes help me make better decisions? Based on the two articles provided here in Discussion
#1, let me cite an example of purchasing a new vehicle.
If I decided to simply go out and buy the first hunk of metal with four tires, what
disadvantage(s) might this have if I fail to consider what it means to do my homework as not
only a researcher, but a wise and good consumer of the findings? First, overall cost, fuel,
maintenance, depreciation, insurance, new tires, and other items have cost, and for me to ignore
these variables can have a detrimental impact on my personal finances. Second, does it have a
high trade in value? Third, do I really like this vehicle or is it just a convenience item? In other
words, have I done due diligence in the analysis, consideration of cost, long-term issues,
changing jobs, and so forth; and, moreover, have I investigated all these factors as a good and
wise consumer of the available data for this vehicle?
The two articles identified in this assignment provided an excellent overview of why
research is extremely valuable to me personally and professionally, and that as a good consumer,
I should be a wise user of available data to make the best decisions I can in all situations.

Gradebook Policy and * Grade
Abstract 25 POINTS
The Gradebook Policy is a guide to support learning outcomes for the student and to help
the instructor and student ensure that grades are current, accurate, and ensure items are accounted
for during the duration of the semester. In the gradebook to enable accurate interpretation, zeroes
are used as indicators of materials not submitted, late, or simply lost in the process of a semester.
The student must coordinate with the instructor to remove any zeroes or discuss solutions for
issues that impact materials from being submitted. In such cases that run longer than a planned
timeframe in the semester, an *Grade is permitted after discussion with the instructor. In short, it
is the responsibility of the student, working with the instructor, to maintain a current gradebook.
