M7D1: IT Strategy
This activity addresses the following module outcome:
MO1: Compare IT strategic planning tools. (CO1)
IT strategy helps to ensure that a very expensive resource is being used to focus on the organization’s strategy. There are a number of components to IT strategy and governance.
In preparation for this discussion, please read the required material and watch the assigned videos, then respond to the following:
In your initial post, answer the following questions from the textbook:
What are the three categories of value drivers?
Why do reactive approaches to IT investments fail?
What is the goal of IT–business alignment?
Why is IT strategic planning revisited on a regular basis?
What are the functions of a steering committee?
Describe the IT strategic planning process.
Explain how a good IT strategy can help companies gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

In your response, complete the following:
Identify additional benefits to IT strategic planning
Your response should be substantive (at least 150 words) and include reference citations and, where applicable, use APA formatting.
