1. The UCR is the Uniform Crime Report, which includes victim reports, self-surveys, and other statistics and reports that law enforcement shares. This is data collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is collected strictly on a voluntary basis. The Uniform Crime Report can be found on the FBI's website, and is quickly found by a Google search looking for the most recent version of the UCR. The Violent Crime Index and Property Crime Index are both aspects of crime that are compiled and studied by the FBI. This is useful because a real distinction can be made between the nature of crimes, and help researchers understand the scope of each individual problem. As a result, there is a better idea of what issues exist, and proper solutions can be theorized, tried and researched.

UCR also provides statistics for all criminal justice students, the public, different media resources, etc. The UCR provides statistics for crimes in many different cities, universities, states, and more. The Uniform Crime Rate can be useful to researchers because it provides the essence of the crime that was committed. It can also help researchers fight for new laws and have evidence to back up the reason the new law should be put into place. As well as suggest new ways to bring down crime rates or prevent a particular crime.

You will need to search the cities you will like to know the UCR and also at the population to it and then select them and create table for it and then you will be able to compare it to others cities. The major components of crime index it will be aggravated assault, larceny any other crimes they will focus on it and even though the case was not close they will give that information to UCR so they can keep it for records. For the reason this can be useful because they can look back at this cases that can be use to finish their work or have prove of what is the work in the field and it can also held solve the problems at many levels. Finally, they provide law enforcement with data for use in budget formulation,  planning and many more.

The major components are National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). It is based on obtaining details on specific crime incidents. The Hate Crime Statistics focuses on gathering information on crimes that were inspired by bias such as race, gender, etc. Lastly, Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) focuses on officers who were harm while doing their duties. The UCR crime index major components were violent and property crimes. They focused on reporting incidents such as aggravated assault, rape, and/or murder as violent crimes. On the other hand, crimes such as burglary, larceny-theft and/or motor vehicle theft were part of the property crime category. The data provided to the UCR can be useful to the Criminal Justice researcher for many reasons. These statistics are used to help law enforcement with crime problems. CJ researchers often study the nature, cause and movement of crime. The UCR gives them a better idea and/or understanding with the data provided over time. This data can help with budget, planning and police operations. Also, the data can be used to find methods on reducing crime and recognizing hot spots where crime occurs the most.

This report can be very helpful to those who research criminal justice because the statistics provided in the reports can help them identify areas where crime is prevalent and analyze causations so crime can be reduced and or prevented. It can help them to advise on where it would be most useful to place officers to assist in deterrence.
