There are many ways to successfully enhance personal development goals through branding. I feel that social media use is paramount to build connections, highlight experience, and learn from peers. I think that LinkedIn is a wonderful platform that allows people to connect with other professionals. I intend to use LinkedIn and Facebook to help improve my likelihood of getting a job and to meet other people who could be great resources during the rest of my career. Chan and Leung (2018) state that "social media sites are novel tools to enhance educational interactions among peers, students, preceptors" (Chan & Leung, 2018). Social media has become a vital tool that helps promote societal change and growth as a professional in our society. The use of social media sites aligns with Walden's emphasis on social change because in order to be better nursing professionals it is important to connect and learn with people from all over the world. If we can understand different cultures, ideas, and issues we can strive to improve problems in our world today.
Another strategy I plan to implement for my development as a nursing professional is to study current research that utilizes evidence-based practice. Learning from the most up-to-date studies will help build my knowledge base and make me a better leader. Evidence-based practice aligns with Walden's views on social change because if we are not constantly striving to achieve at the pinnacle of success then we are not doing our duty as nurses. Mackey and Bassendowski (2017) state that "it is crucial that registered nurses be proactive in their quest for research knowledge, so the gap between theory and practice continues to close" (Mackey & Bassendowski, 2017). Learning from proven research is one of the best ways to improve as a healthcare professional. As future Walden graduates, it is imperative that we share the same values as our educational institution. Evidence-based practice is one of the best ways to assure we do this. Horntvetd et al. 2018 state "that evidence-based practice is imperative for ensuring patient safety" (Horntvetd et al. 2018). Evidence-based practice can improve patient outcomes, lead to stronger nursing knowledge, and help professionals keep up with an ever-changing society.

Human beings need to plan for the future. Outlining a vision is part of the success-making process. Various opportunities arise along the way to success. Accomplishing them will enhance growth and can be part of a person’s portfolio. Nurses can use portfolios to excel in their line of work and have an advantage over their colleagues and during job applications (Cope& Murray, 2018). I will discuss about strategies to develop my portfolio.
One of the strategies to develop my portfolio will be volunteering in community development. Voluntary services in medical centers and other communal activities will be beneficial in my line of duty. It helps a person to be compassionate and care for needy people (Henry, 2017). It will also be advantageous because it offers the opportunity to explore my areas of interest. My passion for helping my community will teach me habits that can lead to my success.
Another approach will be attending workshops held by medical entrepreneurs. It will help in networking and acquiring skills that I could use in future endeavors. I will also meet and interact with several folks that have mastered the art of doing business correlated to nursing. The workshops will present me with vital knowledge on how to succeed in the industry (Stambaugh & Anderson, 2017). For example, I will learn about business concepts, strategies and effective methods to accomplish goals. Additionally, I will acquire certificates.
My goals will align with the university’s idea of social change. The institution’s notion is to enhance development and positive change in society. I believe that my plans in portfolio development will contribute to the vision because they advance my skills and know-how. I will learn about integrating business with nursing and share the knowledge with my co-workers. I will also create a positive change by offering voluntary services to the needy.
