Differentiation

When creating and structuring a virtual team both team member satisfaction and growth are important. Team members need to be enthused about the task ahead, while also feeling they learned something in the process. Differentiation is critical on a team, a department, and a division. Differentiation outlines the tasks, functions, and expectations of that member or department. It informs all members of there clear, concise role within the team. The most effective way to structure a virtual team to meet the goals of team member satisfaction and growth is high differentiation and communication.

Communication is vital, because it ensure all parties are on the same page. If there is an issue, concern, or problem within the team, communicating will provide resolution to that specific situation. Communicating also allows for members to be vocal so if there is something they are not satisfied about it can be rectified. Differentiation is important because it provides the blueprint for every member’s role. When members know there roll and the importance of it, it allows them to feel fulfilled and satisfied. They know there part is an intricate piece of the puzzle to reach an end result. Within any team there is growth as you learn from your members as well as the project. Team differentiation influences team performance.

Integration

Integrating on a team can be challenging. When integrating new policies and procedures you want to make a smooth transition for team members so morale does not go down. In some instances you may be integrating a new team member and you certainly want to keep camaraderie among the group. An effective way to introduce integration amongst a virtual team, to meet team member satisfaction and growth is getting feedback from the team members.

Before just implementing a change or creating a new policy gets the feedback of those that it will affect. Also input is critical with meeting member satisfaction and growth. When members of the team are asked for input it shows there knowledge and thoughts are important. When getting both input and feedback from the team it allows for members to feel appreciated which aides in satisfaction. It also allows for growth because the feedback and input would be suggestions on making things more efficient and effective.
