Design Week SacramentoDesign Week Sacramento is a weeklong celebration of
Sacramento’s design community. Throughout the week, we host
Lectures, Panels, Workshops, Networking Events, Studio Tours, and
more! All events are hosted by our local design community with the
mission to improve the awareness of, and access to, the diverse

Our theme for this year’s Design Week is ConnectionsConnections. We have all
missed the opportunities to connect with each other in-person over
the last couple of years, and we want to bring back those
opportunities, as well as the opportunity to connect with our region,
education, social causes and our careers. Thank you to our
Creative Director, Ben Della Rosa, for this handmade interpretation
of our theme!
Thank you to our Event Partner, The Urban Hive, for their continued
support over the years. They are o!ering us their beautiful space
as our headquarters for Design Week this year! Unless it’s

Keynote Speaker! He will talk about all of the work Unseen Heroes
has done to celebrate, empower and support their community.

THE STATE OF OUR CREATIVE ECONOMY 10 AM - 12 PM URBAN HIVE
Listen to leaders from our region talk about the state of our creative
economy - where we are at now, where we are heading, and what
kind of resources are available for local independent creatives and
nonpro"t arts organizations. Panelists include Faith McKinnie,
representatives from Sacramento Alliance for Regional Arts (SARA)

Educators from local colleges and universities will join
representatives from local creative agencies on a panel to discuss

local organizations can serve as the catalyst for diversifying our
creative economy.

We are launching our second cohort of Ascenders Academy, and
are kicking it o! with a party! Marcy Wacker, Program Lead for
Ascenders Academy, will share with a brief presentation on the
bene"ts of mentorship. Then we will open applications for our next
cohort and will have a few of our past mentors and mentees there
so you can sign up and get your questions answered!

Join us for a Lunch & Learn with Neenah Papers! Check out their
Idea Shop and check out a presentation on Designing for Print.
Representatives from Neenah will talk about their Idea Shop where
you can browse and explore innovative ideas for paper-based
products. We will also have a presentation on the lost art of
Designing for Print, including Pre-Press and "le prep for Production.
Lunch will be sponsored by Neenah/Spicer Papers.

Representatives from St. HOPE will share the creative projects that
St. Hope is working on, and how creatives can collaborate with

Join us for ConnectUP with the Visual Media Alliance (VMA) and
Uptown Studios. The team at Uptown Studios and Teneral Wines will
share a retrospective on the work they have done for social justice
causes in the past, and representatives from the Visual Media
Alliance will be there to talk about the work they do to support
creative industry professionals.

LIVE DESIGN SESSIONS 12 PM - 2 PM ROSEVILLE VENTURE LAB (POWERED BY GROWTH FACTORY)
In this workshop, designers will be paired with The Growth Factory
to solve a real UX problem/pain point together. We, as designers,
will identify the clients and stakeholders, understand their business
goals, and learn to apply that information to a design solution. At
the end of the workshop, we will present the business owner with a
tangible solution they can then implement.
