Peer Response 2
• response should be a minimum of 75 words.
• In your replies to others, offer helpful feedback on their arguments. In particular, comment on the following:
• Validity: Is there any way that their premises could all be true and their conclusion false? If so, explain how. Can you suggest why a new premise might need to be added in order to make it valid?
• Truth of the premises: Are all of their premises actually true (especially the new ones added to make it valid)? If not, provide a counter-example, or explain why somebody with the opposing point of view might object to the premise. Keep in mind that objecting in this way to an argument is not impolite; you are just helping them to improve their reasoning.
PEERS RESPONSE:
Hello Class,
For my final paper, the topic I choose is, "Should the United States have a single-payer health care system?" A single-payer in the health care system can benefit and harm its beneficiaries, given that the federal government can typically cause a delay in the health care services needed.
A pro argument for a single health care system:
Premise 1: A single-payer health care system would eliminate the financial threat.
Premise 2: A single-payer health care system would eliminate impaired access to care.
Conclusion: Therefore, a single-payer health care system would provide more affordable and better care to its beneficiaries.
The United States government officials have attempted to give Americans to join a single-payer health care system. Doing so would give Americans access to health care at an affordable rate. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), beneficiaries would access care with insurance carriers across the county. It is solely based on the individual and family income. If a family makes a good income, they typically pay for health insurance at a higher rate than middle to lower class. Those considered "middle class" tend to pay lower premiums than those who are low-income and typically pay little or are enrolled in the state's Medicaid program. The single-payer health care system would give all Americans access to care at an affordable price. Although there are no details on the cost of a single-payer health care system, I believe it would also be based on income as the ACA.
