After reviewing the Boston Celtics Twitter page, I think they successfully utilizing social media for exclusive photos and video of players, advertising their products, game highlights, and updates on signing players or trades. One platform I think organizations use the most is Facebook because it has more than a billion users, which means sports organizations can have a significant outreach. Me being one of these users on Facebook, I use it the most out of other social media platforms to see live feeds such as highlights or score of current games and team updates for trades or injuries. The relationship between successful organizations and the effective use of social media I think is for branding and advertising. I think the Boston Celtics, for instance, uses Twitter for branding and advertising but also to stay relevant during the offseason. I notice engaging and being appealing to consumers as trends regarding social media and sports organizations. Boston Celtics use social media as a source to engage with fans with feedbacks and comments and by making their social media page appealing to fans them by making it user-friendly. Branding can be enhanced through the use of social media by sharing and promoting itself to social media users.

Some people think social media is evil and is only bad but for sports teams, there made for each other. The live updates, trades signings platforms like twitter and Instagram give to their fans are ground breaking and for me a fan myself of sports, I know if I miss a game I go straight to social media to see the score now, who scored and its so useful. I would say twitter is the most used social media platform for sports teams and reviewing the Celtics, just last night they were promoting new shirts that are for sale, that is something that if I didn't look on social media, I wouldn't know about. And that's why social media should be your main source of branding and advertising. I think there is a relationship between successful organizations and the effective use of social media because if your not active on twitter, your team will be forgotten about while other teams surpass you. The Celtics are in the offseason where basketball news is slim but yet they tweet almost very 2 hours to keep the fans updated on new merchandise, ticket sales, events, etc. There always active and it keeps the fans involved too. You can see that teams are leaning towards advertising more and more on social media then on billboards because when people are walking around what are they doing, there on there phone not looking at a 2 week old billboard. Everything is fresh and new on twitter and teams are realizing that.
