Crafting Your Future (3rd Year) Groups: 11476, 11477, 11478, 11479, 11480 Prof. R.Valenzuela Assignment: Draw a Mind Map of your Personal Branding Use PowerPoint or any other medium to Draw a Mind Map of your Personal Branding, utilising the concepts that you have learned in Crafting Your Future II and/or Crafting Your Future III. Submitting it in PDF, Powerpoint, or Word; you may get creative and use collage or hand drawing, as long as you submit a “not-too-heavy” file, in one of the three allowed formats. Focus especially on those concepts that are constituents of your Profile as a Professional, such as (KSAO’s) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other characteristics, such as Personality, Values, Type of Intelligence, Social Network, or Cultural Background (if it adds to your brand’s value). Remember: your “Personal Brand” has to negotiate and integrate three dimensions:

1) The above mentioned aspects (KSAO’s), as judged by you (the “offer”). 2) The perception that others have about you (the “perceived or valued offer”). 3) The trends of the specific labour market, what do they value? (the “demand”).

Like every brand, a personal brand needs to be “better than others” at something or “more specific than others”, because a brand needs to root in some competitive advantage. Consider your professional-personal profile (you may need to discuss with friends or family members about “how they see you”). Remember the “Director Board” activity in Session 4 (about your values). Remember the Yohari Window activity in CYFII (you can try to ask a friend or family member to tell you how “they see you”, “what skills or competencies they see in you”.) What could be your competitive advantage as judged by them (as judged by you)? Consider the field in which you want to develop a career in and research about how it is changing. Try to find guiding ideas and trends about that field and try to figure out what kind of professional profiles fit better into that labour market. Remember: a Mind Map is a simple and synthetic presentation, using symbols, colours, codes, words. It connects different core ideas into a visual structure which is hierarchical and radial and includes several levels.
